Mountain House Freeze dried stuff....

https://www.safecastleroyal.com/splashPage.hg

Has a pretty good sale on Mountain House stuff, but it ends this weekend....

Enter the code MHLOADUP23 at checkout to see your actual cost shipped to you.

I just ordered another one of the 150 can ( 25 case deals ) that I bought one of last year, because I think it's gonna be dang cheap insurance or barter goods down the road.

This is what you need to plan on storing if you get one:

Howdy Andy, Indeed that is very good insurance or barter item, we have a nice cache of these products that I consider the core of our long term storage food supplemented with plenty of dry goods in 5 gal buckets /mylar bags...you know the routine.

I had to chuckle at the thought of a huge pile of empty #10 cans..ahh but resourceful Andy would create a cottage industry for Hobo Stoves, Stove Pipe or really small sheets of metal roofing...

Have a good weekend and thanks for the heads up, brewer

Cheap insurance, that's for sure. Another group buy should be kicking off soon over at warrifles.com.

I just ate the last of a #10 can of Beef Strog. kind of as a trial run. Temp outside was in the 80's...I gave my airconditioner away....I kept the can on the shelf for 12 days, checking it carefully. No problems storing an opened can at room temp. The last meal tasted just as good as the first.

I couldn't tell that it was freezdried. I rate the Beef Strog....9/10...excellent.

Seeing that pallet....

The wife is all for preps but the pantry filled first, then the garage was full, and then preps appropriated most of the library. I'm going to have to build a root cellar or something if I want to order any more orders that size. I'm facing protest marches on precisely that point.

I've been ordering, but not so swift on the 'plan on storing' part.

TP is easy. It does not mind attic heat and is light. So at least she only kids me about that.

Yeah .....that's WHY I posted the pic.....so nobody would be suprised by the volume....and that pic is actually one layer short of a 25 case order. Last order, there were 5-6 cases that were still in production and came a few weeks later via UPS.

I'm fortunate to have a bunch of shed and barns I've built over the years.
One is a 2 story 30x40 "barn" with concrete floor, lights and water I call my "storage annex". I stick my palletized stuff there.

The root cellar is a good idea...I'm considering, on my "round to it" list, building a decent sized underground facility to store things at a fairly constant 50-60 degree temperature. Have to watch humidity control for things like metal cans.

The work is never done......
